Steve Newell, Regional Sales Manager

Steve Newell is the Regional Sales Manager for Startel Corporation. Steve cut his teeth in the Telecom industry soon after graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Starting at Tekmark Computer Services, a New York City Telecommunications Consulting firm, Steve experienced the wild de-regulation days of the Bell Companies first hand in the mid-1980’s. After helping Tekmark place hundreds of consultants into various Bell spin-offs, Steve left Tekmark and traveled worldwide with his wife, Mary, doing missionary work across the continent of Africa before returning to the United States.

Steve returned to New York (and Telecommunications), doing PBX Sales and Consulting at Cortel Business Solutions, offering full-service solutions encompassing Cabling, PRI and T1 circuits, PBX, Voice Mail, Call Center and Recording Hardware and Software. While in New York, Steve was certified by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as the first-ever Telecommunications Continuing Education Credit Provider, having designed a series of courses for Architects detailing the impact of Voice over IP (VoIP) technology on Structured Cabling Solutions and enhanced Disaster Recovery.

The Newells moved from New York to Atlanta, GA, in the years following 9/11, where Steve joined the Startel Sales team. Steve and his family (Mary, children Stephen and Alexa) continue to root passionately for the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and Sixers.
